From daylight to golden hour!
Welcome to my first blogpost! Today I am going to show you how to transform your daylight photo into a golden hour photo in six simple steps. The programs I use are Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5
1. Get rid of distractions
First I removed the fence in the background with a clonestamptool.
2. Enhance the light
After that, I enhanced the light in the background. I used a brush to put a dot where the light came from.
– White dot on ‘soft light’
– Yellow dot on ‘overlay’
3. Selective colors
With the adjustment layer ‘selective colors’ I played with the green and yellow tones until I got a warm/golden glow. With a mask I made sure that the effect was not as strong on the foal.
4. Colorbalance
With the adjustment layer ‘color balance’ I made the photo a lot warmer and like the previous step I made sure that the effect was not so strong on the foal.
5. Vignet
After that I added some vignet. There are many ways of adding vignet, but I used curves. Using curves I made the whole photo darker en painted with a black brush on the foal, leaving the bottom and sides dark.
6. Finishing touches
Last of all I played with the curves and did some finishing touches in Lightroom like adding more light and some contrast. That’s it!
